The Drum in February showcased eight Chinese tech startups the rest of the world should be keeping an eye on as they are shaking up business models in the US and Europe.
“Over the last two years there has been massive growth from e-commerce in China. There are lots of innovations happening in the market at the moment to try and take advantage of the ubiquity of mobile and multichannel” said Qusai Sarraf, CEO of IVIS Group and Visiting Professor for the International MBA programme at Peking University, Beijing.
In a market where consumers start many of their journeys in-store rather than online, China’s ecommerce explosion is hard to ignore but multichannel will be key to success, maintains Sarraf.
Senior reporter Seb Joseph asked IVIS Group to contribute to this article as they have been active in the Chinese market since launching an office in Beijing in 2011 and work with British retailers looking to break into Asia as well as local brands.
The brands featured were Xiaomi, Gogovan, WeChat, Redmart, Meituan, Guahao, Shopline and Scandid.
